Crop, soil and environmental profiling

Profiling

Before any consideration can be given to the large scale application of mycorrhizal fungi in a commercial plantation the culture practise employed within the plantation need to be considered carefully. There is usually very little margin for change in these practices and it is therefore important that the large scale production and application of mycorrhizal are considered within this context.

Beyond an understanding of the nursery and out planting phases PlantWorks undertakes a thorough test of standard composts and growing media used in routine production to ensure they are compatible with the use of mycorrhizal fungi. Undertaken at one of its fully equipped mycology laboratories in Europe this work also begins to define the profile of mycorrhizal fungi that will be required for the target environment. This work usually takes between 30 and forty days. All soil imports are controlled under PlantWorks soil importation licenses.
