These plants are produced on a large scale in local nurseries close to the production areas for subsequent export. PlantWorks is working with several international companies around the world to mycorrhize their seedlings in the nursery before outplanting. The sourcing of local mycorrhizal fungal isolates adapted for use in the nurseries has been done by PlantWorks giving rise to shorter nursery production times, increased survival rates, better transplant survival rates into the field and a reduced need for fertilizers in the field and nursery. This has been accepted as a standard cultural practice by some.
